Essential Questions to ask your wedding venue

Essential Questions to ask your venue

Your venue needs to represent who you are as a couple and fit in with your particular style.  If you walk into a place and you get the “wow” factor you’ve found the right one.

It’s easy to get what you want from your suppliers if you know what questions to ask.  Here are some to get you started...

Is it available on our chosen date?

Will it accommodate all our guests?

Is it close to the ceremony venue?

Or does it have a ceremony venue with the reception?

What is the total cost per person?

Do they charge venue hire?

Does the venue hire become more expensive after a certain time?

Can you only play music to a certain time?

Is catering included in the cost per person?

Will there be other weddings taking place on the same day?

Can you move furniture and pictures?

If you require wedding guest accommodation can it accommodate the numbers that you require?

Does it have a honeymoon suite and is the price included?

Are you able to have candles, fireworks, marquee, band etc?

Does the price include VAT and staff costs?

If you are Hindu, can you have a fire?

Does it have a ceiling height to accommodate a chuppa?

What equipment does the wedding venue have for rental?

First Dance Songs

The recent Wedding Survey results demonstrated that there is no popular first dance song currently but rather the first dance songs vary between the golden oldies such as Frankie and Dean to Afrikaans singers.

The most popular musicians were Michael Buble and Bryan Adams.

The most popular SA Band was the Parlatones with a variety of Afrikaans musicians featuring including Kurt Darren, Karen Zoid and Juanita du Plessis.

The overall message from the survey is that brides and grooms are selecting music that is meaningful to them and their memories rather than what's on the Top 40.

Getting Started

In the SABIA Wedding Survey 2010 the majority of brides-to-be mentioned that after letting everyone know, taking photos of the ring and mmsing them to all the friends that the first things they do are:

?  buy magazines
?  think about the date
?  contact possible venues
?  contact photographers

However there are a few things to keep in mind when starting out on your exciting journey of organising your wedding.

Use SABIA members for suppliers
SABIA members have been test driven by other brides and have achieved an incredible 95% average from a minimum of 3 brides.  This provides you with instant confidence that they will perform, if not exceed, expectations on your very special day.

Take into account word of mouth
Speak to your friends that have recently gotten married, especially if you attended, and something really impressed you.  Ask them what the experience was in dealing with them and for their contact details.

However, do keep in mind from whence word-of-mouth comes.   To illustrate, if you ask
