Wedding Receptions – What else is there? Most people think that there aren’t really a lot of options when it comes to the type of reception they can have. But in today’s culture receptions can be done with a little more flair and panache than the traditional seated wedding receptions. So if you want to shake things up a bit and do things a little differently here are some options. 1. A Buffet Reception A buffet means that instead of being served, the guests serve themselves. This is a somewhat traditional type of reception but it’s a nice way to get your guests to chat and mingle with people who aren’t at their table. The buffet style is popular because it allows the guests to choose what they want to eat. And nothing is more decadent then seeing a whole array of delicious food and mouth-watering desserts. You can put a fresh spin on the traditional buffet by having a more exotic food selection, like a sushi buffet. It’s sophisticated, classy and eye-catching. 2. A Cocktail Reception If you love elegance and refinement but are worried about the cost why not have a cocktail wedding reception? These are fantastic and fun because the guests get to mingle and chat without being confined to a specific table. It also eliminates those awkward seating charts! Small tables and chairs and even couches can even be placed around the reception hall, creating cosy chatting areas or just a place to rest. You can also make a selection of finger foods and hors d’oeuvres available for your guests to enjoy before you cut the wedding cake. It’s a more relaxed and interactive option if a formal dinner is not really your thing. 3. A Brunch Reception Brunch receptions are the perfect accompaniment to a morning wedding service. Here you can have a choice of either a buffet or a seated meal. An assortment of fresh fruit, pastries, filter coffee, exotic teas, freshly made fruit juices, bagels, muffins, bacon, eggs and sausages will be well received by your guests. A mid-morning reception allows for more variety of food without increasing the cost and is a nice, fresh and innovative approach to a wedding reception.
